Kentucky Board of Pharmacy Now Responsible for Controlled Substance Licensing

The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy is now responsible for controlled substance licensing of manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors. Previously, the Cabinet for Health and Family Services had responsibility to manage the program, but the statues granting this authority were repealed during the 2018 Legislative Session. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services will no longer renew controlled substance licenses, all of which expire on June 30th. Proper licensure must be maintained through the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
